    Helpful things to bring:

    • A layout drawing with measurements of your area(s).

    • A cabinet door, floor sample, tile sample, and/or paint swatches, for color matching.

  • To begin pricing your job, we need to know the dimensions and layout of your area(s). Our goal is to produce a high-quality product that flows naturally and contains the least number of seams possible. Your dimensions and layout can impact which materials you’re able to consider, and the number of slabs required to complete your job. Download our graph paper below to get started. (This drawing is for estimating purposes only. We will make exact templates of your area(s) once you finalize an order).

    Helpful Tips:

    • Use an ‘X’ symbol to indicate which edge(s) should be finished.

    • Note where overhangs exist (if applicable)

    • Note where sink and faucet are located (if applicable)

    • Note where backsplash would exist (if applicable)

Our Process

Capital granite’s pricing system

When viewing our material, you will notice that we assign a certain price group to each color we have showcased. These groups range from A-I followed by our Specialty category. Price groups are solely meant to help with budgeting purposes and do not mean that one stone is superior to another based on the group it resides in. We only bring in materials that we believe will produce the most beautiful, longest-lasting finished product, so the price group does not speak to the quality of the stone. A stone’s price group is predominantly driven by availability and demand for that color.

“I like the fact that we take the time to thoroughly educate our customers on our products and processes rather than focusing on simply making a sale. Our team truly wants to make sure our customers are satisfied with their finished products, especially since they are letting our work into their homes for years to come.”

— Samantha Fletcher, Marketing

When it comes to pricing your specific project, we recommend scheduling an appointment at one of our showrooms so we can capture every detail that needs to be factored into your estimate. The fabrication of a natural/engineered stone product is a multifaceted process, and we like to make sure we are giving you a price that is not only accurate but also reflective of your desires. It’s for that reason that we don’t advertise certain pricing per square foot before understanding your project as many factors can alter a price, such as vein movement, edge profiles, cut-outs, layout, and supports.

Edge Profiles

Templating

Templating is when we’ll conduct a detailed and accurate measure of your area(s). We’ll start by reviewing the job details with you to ensure accuracy and that all necessary details are accounted for. Your material choice and layout will determine which steps we take next. In some applications, we utilize an old-school method of crafting templates out of wooden lauan to your exact specifications. In others, we utilize advanced technology by producing a template via our digital lasers. Both methods produce the same result, but we feel some cases are better served by certain methods. Once the area is templated, we will discuss final seam placements with you, followed by a thorough clean-up.

Items to complete prior to your template:

  • Material selection finalized

  • Edge profile finalized

  • Sink information finalized and sink(s) onsite if Capital Granite is not supplying

  • Faucet information finalized and faucet(s) onsite if Capital Granite is not supplying

  • Stove/appliance information finalized

  • Cabinets in place

If you have existing countertops, please keep these intact. In some cases, the existing backsplash may need to be removed for us to perform an accurate measure, but our templating professional will assess that once onsite and will conduct the removal if needed.

Fabrication

As your job moves through our fabrication facility, there are several stations it will pass through, depending on the intricacies of it. In every scenario though, a job will begin on the saw. From there, it may pass through the CNC followed by an edging machine that applies an initial edge profile. We believe machines and technology are necessary and beneficial, but we also value the craft of a skilled tradesman, which is why we finish every piece by hand polishing each edge. The last stop is quality control, where we inspect each piece to make sure it is a direct reflection of our customer’s expectations.

installation

The most exciting part of the process - the installation of your new natural/engineered stone surface!

Upon arrival, you can expect our crew to introduce themselves and explain the installation process. They’ll then prep your home for installation by laying down drop cloths in the areas we’ll be working within, to help protect your floor and ensure the area(s) remains safe and clean. Removal of all top cabinet drawers will follow, along with taping off all the tops of your base cabinets to prep for caulk. Once we’ve finished preparations, we’ll then bring in your tops and set them in place on the cabinets. It’s at this point that we may need to make onsite modifications to ensure your countertops are level and perfectly flat. Once everything is set in place, we’ll begin utilizing our seam setters, which help to pull any necessary seams together, leaving you with a finish that flows smoothly. If sinks and backsplash are included, we spend time mounting and installing those pieces next. Our final step involves caulking all of your countertops to the cabinets and walls/splash.

Upon completion, we will thoroughly sweep up any debris that we have created, conduct a thorough cleaning of your countertops, and will end with an educational session on how best to care for and maintain your stone for years to come.

Items to complete before your installation:

  • Removal of existing countertops (if Capital Granite is not conducting)

  • Ensure the driveway is clear and accessible

  • Ensure there is a clear path to the area where the installation is occurring

  • Ensure sink base cabinets are emptied
